The author is given as Q.K. Philander which is the pseudonym of Mortimer  Humorous essays written by Mortimer  Neal Thomson (1828-75). Thomson was a journalist and humorist on the staff of the New York Tribune.   This book has decorative brown cloth covers.  There are 330 pages and several blank pages.  There is a bit of scattered foxing.  there is a previous owner's plate glued in the front.  The publisher is Edward Livermore of New York.  The copyright date is 1855.
